Based at the edge of the Llynfi Valley, STEER – The Enterprise Academy – is a social enterprise that aspires to enrich people’s lives through wellbeing activities.

With many young people at risk of poor emotional wellbeing, STEER’s team decided to set up a ‘Green Gym’ for young people.

Funded through the Integrated Care Fund Community Grant, administered by Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations, the Gym offered a chance to escape from every day life and enjoy some outdoor activities.

Activities included walking, running, log runs, digging, press-ups, camp cooking and gardening.

“Our grant helped our Green Gym to be recognised locally as a great project, leading to young people and adults becoming regular volunteers at our centre, allowing us to become more sustainable."
