I was elected as the Leader of Bridgend County Borough Council in October 2016, having served as the Deputy Leader since 2015. I was first appointed as a Cabinet Member in 2008.
I am the spokesperson for Health and Social Care and Presiding Officer for the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA). Through this national role, I am a member of the Together for Children and Young People (T4CYP) Expert Reference Group and the Improving Outcomes for Children Steering Group Ministerial Advisory Group.
I have been a member of the CTM Regional Partnership Board since January 2019 on taking the post of Cabinet Member for Social Services at Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council.
As Chair of the RPB, I am an advocate of the key role we play by working together as partners, organisations and residents, to secure the best health and wellbeing outcomes for our communities across Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf.
In addition to my role as Chair, I am Deputy Leader with Portfolio for Social Services at Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council.
I am also very active within my local community, and have over 20 years’ experience working and volunteering with communities and in the field of Community Development, along with being a qualified and registered Social Worker with experience working across Adults and Children’s Service areas.
