Mental health can be very complex and each person experiences issues differently. When people are experiencing challenges with their mental health, it can impact all aspects of their life, including their physical health, relationships, education, training and work.

Organisations across Cwm Taf Morgannwg are working together to find ways to support the mental health of children and young people, working age adults and older people. This includes improving systems to provide better services which are easy to access and open to everyone.

To improve services and support for people living with mental health issues, a plan called Together for Mental Health has been put together. You can read about it here.

The Population Needs Assessment tells us what services and support people with mental health issues need.

Some suggestions include:

  • A clear mental health and wellbeing strategy put in place as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic that helps people to overcome issues related to fear, anxiety, depression and hopelessness that they may have developed during lockdown
  • Increased information regarding support and advice, especially on a local level within communities
  • More services and appointments available for people suffering from mental health issues, so they can obtain help and treatment at the earliest opportunity
  • More preventative services that increase resilience within communities

Information such as this helps us to understand how we can support people with mental health problems to be more involved and empowered, and have more choice and control.

Whether you are living with a mental health problem, are a family member/ friend, or support people with mental health problems,  this page will  keep you up to date on our progress and ways to get involved.
